Wilkinsons has a number of different types of lathes and milling machines enabling us to perform a genuine in house manufacture and supply service for all our customers. From small pins and bushes to full sets of bearings and axles…we have a machine that will handle most requirements, big or small.

Wilkinsons operate technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable heat treatment processes. The Fluidised Bed Heat Treatment system was introduced at the plant to provide an environmentally friendly solution for Hardening, Nitriding, Nitro-Carburising, Case Hardening, Annealing, Stress Relieving and Carbon Restoration. ADI (Austempered Ductile Iron) is a two stage heat treatment which enhances the structural properties of common nodular iron, stage one involves the casting matrix becoming saturated with carboin the process know as 'Austenitising' the second stage in the process is Austempering which allows the matrix of the metal to form superior molecular structures due to the ability of the carbon to migrate through the casting during the quenching.

The result is a component that provides exceptional tensile strength, is cost effective and delivers greater component life expectancy over traditional forging. Our plant has eight automated computer controlled furnaces which accommodate a range of heat treatment outcomes.

Whether it be a small machine bearing or a leaf spring for a semi-trailer all furnaces provide continuous data feedback on the process control, ensuring compliance with each phase of the heat treatment technical specifications. Call us to discuss your requirements.
